A small, friendly corner of the internet where a human will read what you exhale.
A voooof is the sound reality pushes out of you when it outruns your capacity to respond. Half sigh, half laugh, all exhale. You don't have words yet — you just have the sound.
The traffic jam you're not in. The relative who won't read the room. The headline that makes you check whether you're still on a news site. Voooof. You made it through. Now it's on the record.
voooof.com is a deliberately quiet place meant for a shared half-laugh — the knowing look across the room when the world does something absurd. You put a voooof on the record. A human reads it. Sometimes it joins the Ledger, sometimes the Vilderness, sometimes a quieter place. All of it counts as being heard.
It is not a gripe session. Reddit, X, and Bluesky already carry that water — go there if that's what you need. We're not trying to rant, rally, or rage. We're trying to exhale together.
That said: the Vilderness exists because some voooofs are too loud for the half-laugh register, and we'd rather give them wider country to roam than tell anyone to keep it in. If yours fits there, yours is welcome there.
When you offload a voooof, one of three things happens.
The front door. Everyday absurdities in the half-laugh register. Recent ones sit on the homepage; older ones age into the archive as new ones arrive.
Wider country. Louder, rawer, lungs-first voooofs that need more room. Same species of exhale, different habitat. A destination, not a demotion.
The quiet place. Some voooofs we hear but set down gently rather than amplify — maybe the tone pulls too hard toward gripe, maybe it names a specific person unkindly, maybe it's something we don't feel right publishing on your behalf. Nothing about The Hush means you weren't heard. It means you were heard, and a human decided the kindest thing was to hold it.
Every voooof is read by a human. Not a bot, not an algorithm, not a filter. Someone sits with it for a moment before deciding where it goes. That's the whole point — the internet has enough things that pass through machines untouched. Yours won't.
We don't collect your name. We don't collect your email. We don't set tracking cookies beyond a single privacy-friendly pageview counter. The "affiliation" field on the submission form is optional — say as much or as little as you want. The exhale is what matters, not who's exhaling.
Each voooof gets tagged with one of seven universes — loose categories for the shape of absurdity you're voooofing at. They're less about classification and more about giving each voooof a little badge of company. You can see the list on the submit page.
